An Update on the Last Few Weeks…oh and Happy Holidays!

I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday!!! Mine was good as well. I spend the weekend before Christmas hanging out with friends, new and old. Christmas day included brunch at my Mom’s (where I made egg nog pancakes!) and then dinner at my Dads’. Here’s two picture highlights from my day:

That's right!! I FINALLY got new running shoes!!!

….and ZOMBIE BOOKS!

Yes!!! I finally got new running shoes! My mom bought and gave them to me for christmas….I got to pick them out thanks to my job at Dick’s. I picked the Asics Gel Contends. These were pretty similar to my previous shoes and should still provide great performance while being reasonably priced.

Besides Christmas and the Holidays, I’m finally getting to an update post. I’ve really been slacking. My last real post was December 11th. I think I’ve avoided posting because this is a running blog, and I’ve been avoiding running. I just haven’t had the heart to do it. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I’ve just been in a funk.

I honestly think my “running depression” and lack of actual running is due to not getting to do my marathon. I KNOW there’s going to be other ones, but I’m the type of person that when I get an idea in my head, I want to do it NOW; not in a few weeks, not in a few months; NOW! I’m like that with everything. So when my foot started hurt and my finances/job stuff was picked up by a tornado, I was super sad. Which, on top of everything else going on, would explain my funk in general.

But I have decided that taking a hiatus and time off is O.K. I needed to re-situate my life. And even though it’s not steady yet, I think it’s time to get back to running. I’ve been working on my New Year’s Resolutions, and I think I’ve picked some good ones to help me stay motivated. I still am a runner, and I need to live up to that.

So for the last couple of weeks, I’ve been keeping busy otherwise. I’ve been going to school (had my first test last week), working, going to weddings, waiting for the world to end, looking for another job (in addition to my current one) because the world didn’t actually end, snowboarding, getting tattooed (don’t judge…I had already paid for it before all my job stuff hit the fan), hanging out with friends, making new friends, losing my keys (it’s a long, embarrassing story), seeing movies, celebrating the holidays, saying bye to friends that are moving (and going back to Africa – seriously), hanging out with family and house sitting. Did I leave anything out?

  1. I completely understand. I get totally obsessed with events and lose it if something changes. I can;t imagine if I was registered for nt NYC this year.

Good luck getting back into running and keep us posted!
